The Parisian Macao

Identity Logo | 25 January 2016

While at Hunt Design Associates, I designed the logo for the new Las Vegas Sands casino & hotel in Macau—The Parisian. HDA, in addition to designing the signage and wayfinding for the Parisian, proposed a logomark for the hotel as well. I spent time researching the different eras of design and style in Paris and tried to combine what is truly Parisian style with what the Chinese market would recognize. We went through many rounds of ideation, vetting ideas against Las Vegas Sands's Chinese cultural expert.

A replica eiffel tower is the monument in front of the hotel, it is a new landmark on the Cotai strip, and is essential to the identity of the Parisian, thus figures centrally in the logomark. Fleurs-de-lis flank the “Macao” sub-titling to further the french theme. The type is reminiscent of classic french faces such as Garamond, but with flourishes that add a bit more feel of fancy to the mark.
